G’day, my name is Ty Buckmaster
You’ve come to the about me page – the read more blog post section.
….As a side note, it’s extremely funny but in complete honesty it has taken me well over 12 months to actually write this and post it to my website but we’ll just leave that procrastination story out for another time…
Let me just say, that I think it’s unreal you have decided to come this far.
For me personally, I have created this tiny space on the internet to bring some value into the world (as cliché as it sounds).
If I can help but one individual person improve themselves or learn something new, I have succeeded.
That in itself will leave me speechless and provide a deep feeling of accomplishment.
I must also add that on a high level, this isn’t just about what I can do for the world, but also something that aims to teach me to developing many skills like writing, reading and ultimately the art of learning (self-education).
Another reason I decided to publish my work into the world of the internet is because I have come to know the power of externalising the thoughts going on in my head.
This is such a great way to reflect on the things and experiences I have gone through in my short time alive, and through this particular externalisation process, hopefully influence someone else to better themselves as well.
I have already posted some articles and I have many more planned to come (both long and short with some in between) that go into detail how critical it has been for me to get the swirling connections in my head out and onto paper.
So, a little bit of quick info about me:
(I hope you like dot points, because that’s exactly what you’re going to get, apologies in advance).
- I was born in Queensland, Australia in 1995 to an extremely loving mother and father, that sacrificed a lot (something I am extremely grateful for)
- I was always a rugrat as a kid, continually getting into mischief and ultimately trouble (the principal’s / headmasters office)
- I played an extensive variety of sport whilst growing up
- Rugby league
- Rugby union
- Cross country
- Athletics (across multiple events)
- Swimming
- Volleyball
- Surfing
- Touch football
- To name a few
- I learnt guitar and self-taught myself from the age of 10 (year 5) and then by high school in year 8 and 9 I was blessed to have my parents pay for guitar lessons through the school (although since finishing school I have played in dribs and drabs)
- I was always good at wood work and metal work as my father always had me working in the shed with tools and other contractions trying to pull things a part and fix them like skateboards, surfboards etc
- Had a love for mathematics and physics by the ages of 14 and 15, and then went on to really love the subjects in my senior years in high school
- This ultimately led me to a professional career (following university of course) in mechanical engineering and the construction industry
- Since graduating I have been lucky to be a part of 6 major capital works projects in the engineering construction industry
- 2 large scale solar farms
- 2 large scale sewage treatment plants (also known as wastewater)
- A cement import facility
- The construction and commissioning of 2 coal handling preparation plants (CHPP wash plants)
- Now work for an engineering design consultant for the water and wastewater industry. We design everything from the civil, structural and mechanical portions of projects from $5,000 in value all the way to the millions.
- I grew up on the South Side of Brisbane along Moreton Bay and moved to the Gold Coast (where I always spent majority of my time) in the middle of 2019.
But I think that the above is enough for now and would now like to outline exactly why I wanted to put this stuff into the world.
I honestly have always wanted to create something big, create something that can give back to the greater community and provide help in unique ways.
The internet allows me and many others to do this.
I have been doing a huge amount of reading in the last 2 years since going through the realisation that books and ultimately learning, is the most important skill to have in an ever changing world.
Providing value to those who can relate to some of the things that I’m experiencing in my life but also those who might be doing well currently in their own unique circumstances, who want to continue to improve themselves well into the future to be the best version of themselves.
That’s exactly what I aspire to do in my life.
Hope you enjoy what I’ve learnt from the world and give back my little snippet of help and support.
Cheers
