#30.0 Photo Reflection of the Past Week

Reflecting on the last week or so, I have gone through my current phone camera roll and picked out five photos that stand out.

Part of my own understanding, I thought I would put together some commentary for each of them and of course, try and highlight so notable observations.

As a side note, some of the “photos” are actually screenshots.

I hope that doesn’t upset anyone…

Anyway, let’s get into it!

Photo 1

Taken at 5:17 pm last Friday afternoon the 4th of December.

The screenshot was taken down at the beach straight after I had finished timing myself how long it took me to do 100 nonstop burpees.

After having a go at this over the last couple of months I have managed to get my time down significantly from averaging around 6 and a half to over 7 minutes, now down to averaging around the 5 to 6 minute mark to perform 100 repetitions of one of the most dreaded and avoided physical exercises ever invented.

A once hated exercise has now weirdly become not only a loved one but a habit.

I can honestly say that it has improved my functional strength enormously, including the mental aspects.

Photo 2

Taken at 8:33 am on Sunday the 6th of December.

The famous Byron Bay Lighthouse.

Was blessed enough to be able to stay down in the little coastal town over the weekend and what better way to commence your Sunday than with a beautiful walk around the most easterly point of mainland Australia.

The photo is quite good at explaining itself, so I won’t go any further but to say that the this is looking to thr north and passed the cliffs and the lighthouse.

From this vantage point the Byron township is a couple of kilometres west.

This one was taken on the same day as the previous photo however later that night at 7:30 pm.

As outlined, we were lucky enough to get a great deal on a second hand pool table for our living room.

My brother is always on the hunt for items like this and because the previous one we were using got damaged he had stumbled across this one.

A much needed upgrade to the one we were “attempting” to play on prior.

We definitely played a few games on it that afternoon and into the evening.

Late Monday night I found myself going through the stock market (the Australian Securities Exchange) or ASX as many know it and had a look at one of my watch lists I had created earlier in the year.

I came across the Macquarie Group – a multinational independent investment bank and financial services company.

I had done a little bit of research as COVID-19 came down hard on a lot of securities in this asset class but never decided to invest.

This was when they were trading around the $90 dollar mark.

Unfortunately, I missed the boat as they’re sitting around $140 per unit now – accurate on the 7/12/2020.

Had I chosen to put down say $1,000 I could have turned that into over $1,500 in the space of 6 months.

Not bad if you were to lock down more substantial amounts of cash.

But hey, that’s how investing works.

Baron Rothschild and Warren Buffet is frequently cited to saying “Buy when there’s blood in the streets” – courtesy of the following article.

And there was definitely blood in the streets back in March 2020 when the world economy came to a prompt halt.

The final photo for this commentary, is an effortless shot of Tallebudgera Creek, snapped Tuesday evening at 6:27 pm.

Looking towards the west with the sun setting behind the hills of Burleigh, outlines of an array of colours and families enjoying the summer Christmas holidays as peaceful as can be.

The moment I got that photo, a flood of childhood memories came racing back to me about all the times I had spent exploring that unreal creek system.

Similar to the kids playing like they were, I too did the same for years on our school holidays because my parents would always take time off work when we finished our commitments for the year.

We would camp for 2 weeks with a waterfront campsite with our family caravan and swim, surf, ride our bikes and relax.

Those were the days but I’ll hold onto the details for another time.

Conclusion

Who knows if that had any value or not, all I know is that it did for me because I had to stop and think about why those captured moments of time were important.

Enjoyable is all that I can describe right now.

Cheers!
