#41.0 Investment – Chin-up / Pull Up Bar

Another one of my favourite $100 dollar or less investments was a chin-up / pull-up bar.

(Chin-ups require an underhand grip with palms facing towards your body, whereas pull-ups require an overhand grip, palms a facing away from the body).

Simply google both the variations to see an extensive amount of information.

The Tuesday prior to Christmas, there I was, standing in the kitchen putting together a steel frame at 11 o’clock at night.

And once it was functioning as a proper piece of equipment, you bet there I was repping sets out.

With anything, you’ve got to try it out.

We humans can never wait.

A very simple contraction that can be placed on the edging of an door / doorway which instantly becomes a sturdy location to do my favourite physical exercise.

A once hated but now loved movement, I have come to do them (either pull-ups or chin-ups) almost everyday.

They are in one way shape or form incorporated into my daily regime.

A body weight exercise not to be reckoned with as they have totally revolutionised my physical training.

I’ve always done them, but have always had to leave the house, now, there is no excuse.

I see it everyday I walk out my bedroom.

Even though I have always done chin-ups / pull-ups throughout my life and ensuring they’re an integral movement, the last couple of months, I have been able to do these nearly everyday and it takes little to no effort to setup and get using.

Not just a targeted back exercise, these also build immense strength through your hand grip, your wrists, your forearms, your biceps and a little bit of your triceps, your rear deltoids (shoulders), you trapezius, and across your entire back, including you lower back and associated abdominal muscles, which act to prevent you swinging.

Nearly as engaging as the humble burpee.

Learn to love the things you hate.

If you don’t do the things you don’t want to do, you’ll never improve in anything.

Positive from a negative.
