#1.0 Why I Created A Website?

Why did I create a blog?

So, you might ask again, why did I create a blog or also known as a personal website?

I created a blog for first and foremost, me.

Period.

Not anybody else (well at least for now, depending if anyone reads this or not…).

Ideas have been whizzing around my mind for quite some time throughout the end of last year, and even more significantly this year (2019).

After reading numerous books from a range of non-fiction topics and authors, I became attracted to different ways of expressing myself, particularly realising a different perspective altogether.

Throughout my short life on this planet, I felt as though I had gone through a significant amount of experiences, both in my personal life and my career.

I felt a need to contribute and share this to aid somebody else who may be going through or has gone through something similar. Of course both positive and negative.

So what did I do?

In the 21st century these expressive ways are more well-known through the use of social media of course, however, after countless thoughts, I decided on assembling my own website.

Specifically, an author, an inspirational character, captured my every thought. He really allowed me to make the ultimate decision to create something.

After recently moving to the Gold Coast (something I had wanted to do/achieve throughout my entire life, more to that later), I sat on the beach reading and evaluating profusely.

Little did I know, that following an extensive morning of surfing on a Thursday, during my rest and recover week off work, I had spent the entire day engulfed in a book (something that has become very natural to me over the course of the last 12 months).

From 10 am, to finally reading the last page at 5 pm, I had spent 7 hours hooked.

Quick note that my partner bought this book for me for valentines day, so, significant amount of credit to her.

Chris is an American nonfiction author, blogger and speaker who has never worked a conventional 9-5 job. Through multiple attempts of trial and error, he has established himself as a significant individual in the world of generating income outside of the normal, standard “job” we are all so familiar with.

After reading the book from start to finish, I learned that we can challenge the way society wants us to go about our lives through exchanging our finite amount of time, for of course:

Money.

Although society wants us to believe that money is the driving factor behind nearly everything we do, I hold true to myself that what I want to create, displays my life through my own intrinsic ideals and beliefs.

The key word there is intrinsic, which can be defined simply by dictionary.com and the oxford dictionary respectively, as:

as belonging to a thing by its very nature” and “inherent, essential”

Therefore, this project reflects my character and me as a person, naturally and transparently.

So I investigated.

Talking to countless people, asking a multitude of questions, I wanted to create something that formed together numerous ideas that I had swirling around my mind day in and day out. Speaking these through in conversations but never actioning any on paper.

Enter the search engine:

Google

At first I thought a website was a crazy, chaotic clutter of code that was somehow organised enough to create “web pages” and I had to be an absolute nerd, almost a god like creature at writing complex script.

Fortunately, I was wrong.

Following a couple of google searches, YouTube videos, Instagram tags, Facebook group stalks and BOOM. I spent an honest full day working, and had produced a basic though, fully functional website.

This leads us all the way back to the very first sentence of this, my first blog post.

Why did I start a blog? Why, why, why?

Rather than writing this out in annoying paragraphs and fragmented sentences (give me a break, I am working on my literature skills), I think I am going to list these items out in dot point format (because guess what, I think that is much easier to read and understand).

In no particular order, I started a blog because:

I could continue to go on and write forever about the specific ideas of why I am creating this, but the gist is there and listed in the above dot points.

If the content and material I provide here in this resource – through my website – can help or provide support to only one person, I am completely proud with the investment of my time.

That for me is extremely humbling.

So if you want to receive such aid, please ride this journey along with me!

Please don’t hesitate to send me an email with any questions you have here.

Thanks for your time.
