#124.0 Don’t put pressure on yourself – taper week

Taper week.

You’ve trained for months for an upcoming race.

Now it’s time to allow the body to absorb that training, rid fatigue and freshen up.

This is known as tapering.

Easier said than done though as it can be burden on the mental state of an athlete.

The reduction in load causes type A personalities to question if they’ve done enough to prepare but you need to reassure yourself that (provided you followed the program weeks ago) you need to relax and prepare for race day.

That’s when it really counts.

Not the day before or the day after.

On race day.

Do the work in the appropriate timeframes, within the bounds of a tailored program, and don’t put too much pressure on yourself.

Enjoy it and execute.
