#13.0 5 Things I’m Grateful For Today

Do you want to know a powerful trick to calming any anger or frustration you have?

Or even you’re upset something didn’t quite go to plan on your Sunday?

Maybe your coffee this morning wasn’t quite right…?

A simple fix to any negative emotion or feeling is:

GRATITUDE

So if gratitude is the solution to all this negativity, how can you be more grateful.

First things first.

Get a pen and paper and write down some things that you’re grateful for today.

Quick tip: Try to clearly understand how you feel before and after the exercise.

If you’re stuck finding some ideas here’s a list that resonates with me right now.

Any feedback, please let me know.

5 Things I’m Grateful for Today

1. I am grateful that I am alive.

Just to even be alive is the biggest lottery win there is. To put this thought into perspective, think about how many things had to line up and happen for this moment in time, and particularly “you”, to exist. I’ll let you think about that for a second.

2. I am grateful that I am healthy.

To be alive is one thing, however, to be alive and healthy is just unbelievable. Especially with everything going on in the world right now with the Coronavirus (COVID-19), it is such an amazing gift to be well.

3. I am grateful that I am safe.

Establishing that you have both consciousness and health, as described above, is worthy of applause but the next thing that makes me feel special, is that I am currently not in any immediate and imminent danger. Myself, my family and my belongings are secure.

4. I am grateful that I have access to food and water.

Across the planet there are human beings that are thirsty and hungry. I am so lucky that I do not have either. My fridge and pantry are full of wholesome produce and multiple taps within 5 metres of every room in our apartment provide pristine drinking water.

5. I am grateful I have a job.

As I mentioned in number 2, the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has caused two issues throughout our country (Australia) and the entire world. The first being implications to a large number of people falling desperately ill to the pandemic and second the economic impacts as a consequence. Unlike many people that have lost their jobs, I am privileged to still have mine to pay my bills and provide for myself and my family.

Conclusion

So, as another beautiful weekend comes to a close and we move into another working week, it is a a great opportunity to appreciate the little things we take for granted in our lives.

Through the process writing out a list of what you’re grateful for today, it can open up immense feelings of positivity.

I am grateful for my existence, my health, my safety, my nutritious food and drink and finally my job.

By becoming noticeably aware of what we already have we can better understand that sometimes letting something small affect our train of thought and our mindset can have detrimental consequences.
