#141.0 Today I said goodbye to my first ever car – my trusty ute

Since finishing school back in 2012, I purchased my first car for $10,000.

I saved up working in my spare time at a local butcher enough money to buy a car outright with cash.

That car was a Toyota Hilux, 2005 Workmate.

A 4 x 2 single cab utility that just looked after me year after year.

Today my brother sold it to one of our family friends to use for work as a carpenter, after I had sold it to my brother about a year ago when I decided to purchase a four wheel drive.

My brother and I decided to keep it in our family but today we ended up letting it go due to changing living arrangements and not having the room for it any longer.

It feels weird to have such an integral thing leave your life.

Even though it’s only a car, it still played such a massive part in my life.

It just got me from A to B every single time without fail.

Surf trips with the long tray always allowed me to take all the quiver of boards one could dream of (including a 9 foot mal).

And oh boy the convenience of having that car when we had to moved houses, just awesome.

I’ll never forget that car and I hope it’s in good hands and will perform just as reliably for them as it did me.

So long my trusty ute!
