I’m currently reading the book 21 Lessons for the 21st Century by Yuval Noah Harari and am roughly a third of the way through the audiobook.
Thus far, I am absolutely blown away by the book and in particular, the insights which he has meticulously joined together.
A concept that continues to receive particular attention is the phenomenon of algorithms.
Over again, algorithms come up throughout the book and he describes with great detail the role they are and will continue to play within our society, especially the influencing the way we go about our daily lives.
Put clearly, an algorithm is a set of steps within a process or task, instructions if you will, that a computer or other problem solving entity requires to retrieve an answer.
These are everywhere and they will be the culprit of automatically driving cars and music applications that will be able to decide what music to play for you according to your mood.
The book is almost that of a fantasy, where you are taken on a journey, explaining where we are as the human species and what the not so distant future will look like.
Listen or read for yourself, as this is fast becoming a favourite.
