#107.0 Setting a goal is one thing, understanding why is another

If you’ve set a New Years resolution or chosen an achievable but ambitious goal, knowing why you’re going to undertake it is an important step that must never be neglected.

Sometimes, no matter how driven you are, you may realise that there’s no underlying reason why you’re pursuing the objective in the first instance.

Identifying this early on in the goal setting process can save valuable time otherwise wasted on more self fulfilling activities.

Take a step back, be sure to see from a birds eye view why you are chasing that action.

Signing up for that marathon event coming up because a friend has done so, may not be the wisest choice under your personal circumstances at that time, for example.

At least identify 5 why’s and you’ll be in your way to providing yourself with some needed reasoning.

  1. Why choose this goal?
  2. Why now at this time?
  3. Why do this specific goal, when there are 10 other options?
  4. Why, why, why?
